Hello Monika and congratulations of winning the Armenian national final. Hello, I am Monika from Armenia and this is my first interview with international press representative. I feel rather embarrassed…
How is the feeling representing your own country in Junior Eurovision 2008?
I know that people in Armenia trusted me and believed in me and they all wait for the good results (no less than last year). This is so obligative and binding, I really feel a huge responsibility for my country and the only thing I can think about at this moment is singing well. I am ready to sing day and night in order to improve everything I lack in my vocals.
We will see any changes on the stage appearance in Lemesos?
(Orchestration, vocals, choreography, costumes)?
Oh yes, Public TV representatives told me that my song is good, but it may sound better. So they change the orchestration, they asked me and Meri, the author of the lyrics to my song, to change the lyrics as soon as possible. They also hired the choreographer and vocal coaches for us, and they ordered costumes for all 6 people on stage. I have moved to Yerevan in order to rehearse every day and it is a hard time for me and my friends. We have already forgotten that the summer is around and all children must have rest and fun. Now the preparations for the show are our life and our relatives
Do you listen any of the songs from other countries that already selected?
Unfortunately not yet. But I am eager to listen to all of them.
Do you have a favourite?
Hopefully I’ll have a couple of songs to learn by heart
You watch the senior Eurovision or the Junior Eurovision or it’s the first
time you watch and take part in such event?
I have been following ESC 2006, 2007 and 2008 and only JESC 2007. I can hardly follow it up to the very end of the show, because it ends at 3 o’clock in the night and I am so much sleepy at that time. I ask my mom in the morning who won.
Which is your favourite song from Eurovision? Do you have a musical idol?
My favorite songs are “The Fire In Your Eyes” performed by Boaz from Israel and “Shady Lady” performed by Ani Lorak from Ukraine. As for the musical idol, those are without any doubt Tatevik Hovhannisyan (an Armenian jazz performer living and working in USA), her voice is something etheric for me. And I also adore listening to Whitney Houston, she’s amazing!!!
Thank you so much for this first interview!
Esctime.com team would like to wish to Monika good luck to you and your country and see you in Lemesos!
