The campaign is a voluntary group of Scottish Eurovision-enthusiasts who think that Scotland should have its own entry in Eurovision.
Scotland’s football and rugby teams compete in international events under the name ‘Scotland’ and so it is only fair that our fantastically talented music industry should be able to perform in its own right too.
And let’s face it, the UK has not been doing a good job of it lately. It is time to give Scotland a shot and show the rest of Europe just how good our music (and our country more generally) is!
Member of the European Parliament Alyn Smith has been looking into the feasibility of this and there is a way for Scotland to do it.
Scotland is not an independent country (yet, and that is not what this is about), but under the Eurovision competition rules there is nothing saying that Scottish Television (STV) could not bid to produce the UK entry and for Scotland to represent the UK. It would be only fair that this happens every four years, with the other three home nations (Wales, Northern Ireland and England) each rotating and having a shot.
So not only would we get our shot but it would also be a boost for Scotland’s broadcasters! OK, once every four years is not ideal but we’re getting nothing right now.
On this site you can register your support, keep in touch with what is happening in the campaign, find out how to lobby and make this happen! You can also link to the Facebook page which is also gaining support for a Scots voice internationally.
